Penn State Travels To Nebraska For Thursday Tilt

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's basketball team hits the road for a Thursday night contest at Nebraska. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

SCOUTING NEBRASKA

  • Nebraska enters Thursday's contest with a 15-9 overall record and 5-8 mark in Big Ten play.
  • The Cornhuskers currently sit in tenth place in the Big Ten standings.
  • Nebraska has dropped its last four games, including a 53-57 home loss to Indiana in its most recent game on Sunday.
  • The Huskers' five Big Ten wins this season have come over Wisconsin (twice), Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan.
  • Leigha Brown leads a balanced offensive attack with 13.5 points per game. A total of six Huskers are averaging more than eight points per game.

 
AGAINST THE CORNHUSKERS

  • Nebraska holds a slim 7-6 advantage in the all-time series, but the Cornhuskers have won six of the last seven meetings.
  • Penn State will be looking for its first win in Lincoln, Neb. since an 82-67 victory on March 3, 2013.
  • The Lady Lions are 2-4 all-time when playing at Nebraska.
  • The Huskers earned a 79-74 victory in last year's regular-season finale on March 2, 2019 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
  • The Lady Lions erased a 14-point third-quarter deficit, but the Huskers held off Penn State in the final few minutes. The Huskers iced the game at the free throw line in the final minutes as Nebraska went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe in the final 1:33 to hold off Penn State for the 79-74 win.
  • Teniya Page finished with a game-high 22 points. Lauren Ebo recorded her second-straight double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kamaria McDaniel followed with 10 points.

 
KAMARIA McBUCKETS

  • Kamaria McDaniel is the Big Ten's leading scorer and averaging 19.9 points per game. That mark ranks 16th in all of Division I as of Feb. 10. Her 21.5 points per Big Ten game also leads the conference.
  • She dropped the third 40-point game in program history against Pittsburgh on Dec. 5 and put up a 31-point performance against Minnesota in the Big Ten opener on Dec. 28. McDaniel was just one assist away from recording Penn State's first triple-double of the Big Ten era on Jan. 9 against Michigan State as she tallied team-best marks of 24 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. It marked her first career double-double. She then put together a 35-point effort at Purdue on Jan. 26. It marked her third 30-plus point performance of the season.

 
NEARING 1,000

  • Kamaria McDaniel enters Thursday's game at Nebraska with 927 career points, putting her just 73 points away from the 1,000-point mark.
  • With at least six games remaining on the schedule (five regular-season and one guarenteed Big Ten Tournament game), McDaniel will need to average 12.2 points per game to reach the 1,000-point mark. She currently averages a Big Ten-leading 19.9 ppg.
  • McDaniel has scored 477 points thus far this year, 27 more than her first two seasons combined (450).
  • McDaniel would become the 39th member of the Lady Lion 1,000-Point Club and first to join since Teniya Page (Class of 2019 - 2,108 career points).
