Three Nittany Lions Named to NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three Penn State men's basketball players, Stephen Beattie, John Harrar and Kyle McCloskey were recognized as members of the 2019-20 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court. The NABC made the announcement Wednesday (July 15).

Beattie, a resident of State College, Pennsylvania, earned his bachelor's degree in security and risk analysis in May 2020. Harrar, from Wallingford, Pennsylvania, is a rising senior in Penn State's Smeal College of Business, and McCloskey, an economics major, plans to pursue a graduate degree in business management following his Nittany Lion basketball career.

Penn State, with three student-athletes on the NABC Honors Court, ties two other Big Ten institutions for the highest participation among league members for 2019-20.

The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts of more than 1,350 men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics last season.

To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria and be classified as a junior or senior academically, possess a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year, have attended their current institution for at least one year, and be a member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
