THE MATCHUP

  • Penn State is 19-11-5 against Lindenwood since becoming a varsity program in the 2012-13 season. The Nittany Lions have been unbeaten against Lindenwood (8-0-2) since February 2018.
  • Since Jeff Kampersal was hired as head coach in 2017-18, Penn State is 9-2-2 against Lindenwood.
  • Penn State owned a 3-0-1 record against Lindenwood in 2019-20, including a series sweep on home ice Jan. 10-11.
  • Defenders Izzy Heminger and Rene Gangarosa combined for seven points in those four games against the Lions (2G, 5A).
  • In their final matchup of the season at Lindenwood Feb. 22, the Nittany Lions won 5-1, coming just one goal shy of tying their season high of six scored Dec. 7 vs. RIT.

2019-20 PSU QUICK RECAP
Penn State completed the 2019-20 campaign with a 13-15-8 overall record and a 7-8-5 mark in College Hockey America play.

The Nittany Lions won their first- round matchup against RIT in the CHA Tournament to advance to their third-straight CHA semifinal for the first time in program history. They were knocked out of the tournament by the eventual champions, Mercyhurst.

Penn State had another strong defensive season capped by a program best seven shutout wins in 2019-20. The Nittany Lions sported the second best team GAA (2.22) in the conference. In the second half of last season, PSU allowed more than two goals in just five of its final 18 games, with two of those games having empty-net goals scored against for the third goal of the game.

Penn State's highlight victories were certainly memorable. One was a 2-0 shutout of Mercyhurst in the regular season finale Feb. 29, their first shutout against the Lakers ever. Penn State also beat Syracuse 1-0 Jan. 24 for its second win against the Orange in team history. Natalie Heising netted Penn State's first postseason hat trick against RIT in the 4-1 first round victory in the CHA Tournament March 5.
