Penn State Athletics to Host Helping Happy Valley Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, will host Helping Happy Valley week, May 18-24, as a way to raise awareness of some of the ways fans can support the local community at this time.

Many people call Happy Valley home, but for a lot of people it is also their home away from home. Through Helping Happy Valley, fans are encouraged to help the local community through gift card purchases or charitable donations, as well as sharing positive messages of where they might go when they return as well as sharing their favorite memories.

A Bingo-style Happy Valley Support Card will be shared on social media and on the website www.GoPSUsports.com/HelpingHappyValley. Fans who fill in at least one square and then share it back with proof to Penn State Athletics on social media will be entered to win a gift card from Primanti Brothers. Use #HelpingHappyValley when posting about the Support Card.

Shareable social avatars, cover photos and Zoom backgrounds will also be available for fans to show their support of Happy Valley.

On Thursday, May 21, fans are encouraged to show their Nittany Lion Pride and hold a Penn State-themed dinner. Show us your spirit by posting photos on social media using #PSUFamily for the opportunity to win gift cards to Primanti Brothers.

Fans can support their local community by getting groceries from their neighborhood grocery store, or ordering take out of delivery from their favorite local restaurant.

The Nittany Lion Club recipe book from the Blue & White Virtual Tailgate is also available for fans to find their favorite recipes. The recipe book can be found by clicking here.

During the dinner on Thursday, tune in to the Penn State Athletics Facebook page for a live show at 6 p.m. ET as Mitch Gerber checks in with Penn State head coaches from their dinner tables. After dinner at 7 p.m. ET, head to the Penn State Men's Basketball Facebook page and send the kids off to bed with the Read with Us bedtime story.
