ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore forward Kevin Wall (Penfield, N.Y.) was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after registering four points over the weekend at Ohio State.
This marks the first career weekly award for Wall as he becomes the third Nittany Lion to be honored so far this season joining senior Alex Limoges (Winchester, Va.) who received Second Star recognition on December 15, 2020 and junior Oskar Autio (Espoo, Finland) who was named the Third Star of the Week just one week ago.
Wall registered a pair of multi-point efforts in the series split at Ohio State tying his career-high with a pair of assists during a 6-3 loss on Friday night before securing his first career multi-goal game with two tallies on Saturday night in a 5-2 victory.
The multi-point efforts for Wall marked just the third and fourth of his career and the second and third so far this season.
Wall is currently tied with Limoges for the team lead with 11 points, good for seventh in the Big Ten, on five goals and six assists. In 10 Big Ten Conference games this season he has five goals and five assists for 10 points to rank tied for fifth in the conference while his five goals are tied for second.
In just 12 games, Wall has already bettered his numbers from the entire 2019-20 season where he had just two goals and five assists for seven points in 26 games played.
Wall and the Nittany Lions return home this weekend to begin a six-game homestand with a series against Michigan State on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
