Jake Houck Named Men's S&D Big Ten Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's Jake Houck was named the Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Freshman of the Week for his accomplishments in his debut meet this past weekend at Ohio State; the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

Houck tallied three total wins in his first contest as a collegiate swimmer and added a second place finish.

The standout freshman won the 100 fly with teammate Zac Zwijacz after they both touched at the same time in the race (48.15). In addition, his personal-best and NCAA "B" cut time of 19.92 in the 50 free earned him second place in the event.

Houck was also a member of both the winning 200 medley relay (1:27.68) and 400 free relay (2:58.51).

After an impressive performance against a CSCAA/TYR Top 25 Big Ten opponent, Houck will have a chance to continue his success as the team is slated to travel to Evanston, Ill. this weekend to face Northwestern and Iowa.
