ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Alex Limoges (Winchester, Va.) was named one of 50 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey players nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award on Monday afternoon.
The senior garners the second nomination of his career and joins five other Big Ten student-athletes on the initial fan ballot as three from Michigan and one each from Minnesota and Notre Dame join Limoges who was also nominated during his sophomore season of 2018-19.
Limoges is tied for the team lead with 16 points this season to rank tied for tenth in the Big Ten while his nine goals lead the team and rank tied for third in the conference.
The senior potted the overtime winner last Thursday night against Notre Dame for his 50th career goal, a mark good for the most in the Big Ten among active players and the second-most in the nation. Limoges also pulled into a tie with Denis Smirnov '20 for fourth on the Penn State all-time goals list with that tally while his 119 points now place him third all-time.
Fans can VOTE once per day per device during Phase I of voting from now until March 7. Phase two of fan balloting will begin on March 18 and close on March 28 and come from the list of Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists, which will be announced on March 17. The fans' vote accounts for a full one percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.
The Hobey Hat Trick will then be announced on April 1 with the winner be awarded on April 9.
