UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State has been selected to host the 2021 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Panzer Stadium. The seven-team field will compete April 29-May 2 in Happy Valley.
The Big Ten regular-season champion will receive a first-round bye. The first-round will consist of three games on Thursday, April 29. The winners of the first-round games will move on to the Big Ten semifinals on Friday, April 30.
The Big Ten final will be played on Sunday, May 2 with the winner securing an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
All game times and TV network designations are to be determined.
"We are so excited to host the Big Ten Tournament in Happy Valley," said Head Coach Missy Doherty. "Panzer Stadium is such a great venue to host some of the most exciting teams in the country. It should be a fantastic weekend of lacrosse!"
The Big Ten currently has five teams ranked among the Inside Lacrosse Top 20 and two more receiving votes.
This marks the first time Penn State has hosted the Big Ten Tournament. The last time the Nittany Lions hosted a conference tournament was the 2012 American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Tournament.
Under current Big Ten guidelines, public tickets will not be sold for 2021 Penn State Women's Lacrosse home games.
The Nittany Lions are off to a 2-0 start after knocking off No. 7 Maryland, 15-13, on Sunday. Olivia Dirks led Penn State with a career-high five goals, including two in the final minutes to seal the victory.
Penn State jumped to No. 7 in the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse Polls this week.
The Nittany Lions return to action on March 5 and 7 as it travels to No. 4/3 Northwestern for a two-game series.
