ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Penn State men's tennis (2-4, 2-4 B1G) dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 13 Michigan (5-1, 5-0 B1G) on Saturday afternoon in the Varsity Tennis Center.
"We were hoping to play outside but the weather turned on us," associate head coach Paul Tobin said. "Michigan is a well-coached, disciplined team and very aggressive indoors. Getting four singles points was going to be a challenge if we didn't pick up the doubles point."
DOUBLES
The Wolverines took the doubles point on courts two and three to clinch the first point of the match.
Doubles partners Tim Ruetzel (Munich, Germany) and Charl Morgan (Johannesburg, South Africa) tied the country's second-ranked duo in Andrew Fenty and Mattias Siimar with a score of 4-4 in an unfinished match.
At the No. 2 spot, Alp Sentay (Izmar, Turkey) and Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) fell to Ondrej Styler and Connor Johnston 2-6.
On court three, Michigan's pair of Harrison Brown and Nick Beaty defeated Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) and Miko Eala (Philippines/Manacor, Spain) 6-2.
SINGLES
Michigan earned wins on the top five courts to solidify a 6-1 victory.
Miko Eala extended his match to three sets, but fell short to Mattias Siimar 7-5, 2-6, 10-7.
At the No. 6 spot, Tim Ruetzel put the lone point on the board for the Nittany Lions and earned his third consecutive singles win as he defeated Jacob Bickersteth in tight sets 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.

Penn State will complete its weekend road trip in East Lansing for a matchup with Michigan State on Sunday, March 14.
