GREENSBORO, NC. – Penn State swimming's Marie Schobel completed her first day of NCAA competition in the 100 backstroke with a 22nd place finish at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Schobel finished with a time of 52.66, which is her fastest individual 100 back time of her career and only .32 away from her personal best 400 medley relay split (52.34) from 2021 Big Ten Championships.
The junior backstroker also has a NCAA B-Cut in the 200 back (1:56.90) and will swim in the race tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. Her personal best in the 200 back is 1:55.06 from last year's Big Ten Championships.

Schobel also qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships as a sophomore but did not get to compete since the meet was cancelled due to COVID-19.
