Ally Schlegel named MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Redshirt sophomore Ally Schlegel has been a named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy as announced Tuesday.

Schlegel becomes the most recent Penn Stater named as a semifinalist for most prestigious individual award in college soccer that is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.

Leading the Nittany Lions with 11 goals, six assists and 28 points Schlegel and was named the Big Ten Forward of the Year as she led the conference in scoring and points for the second consecutive season. Schlegel is the most recent Nittany Lion to win Big Ten Forward of the Year since Maya Hayes earned the award in both 2011 and 2012.

Schlegel's goals are tied for seventh in the NCAA, her 28 points are eighth and her six assists are tied for 37th.

Schlegel was a unanimous selection to the first team All-Big Ten team, the second first team All-Big Ten selection of her career.

She becomes the most recent Nittany Lions to be named a semifinalist for the prestigious award since former teammate Kaleigh Riehl was named a semifinalist for the award in 2018. Also on the semifinalist list for the 2018 award was teammate Sam Coffey who played for Boston College at the time.

In program history, the Nittany Lions have had two Penn Staters win the MAC Hermann trophy (Raquel Rodriguez – 2015 & Christie Welsh – 2001). Seven times in program history a Nittany Lions has finished as the runner up for the award (Christie Welsh 2000 & 2002, Joanna Lohman – 2003, Tiffany Weimer – 2004 & 2005, Maya Hayes – 2011, Christine Nairn – 2012).
