UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Five members of the Penn State swimming & diving program are set to compete this week, June 13-20, in Wave II of the U.S. Olympic Trials at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Michael Daly, Hayden Harlow, Maddie Hart, Jake Houck and Will Roberson will represent Penn State in Wave II. NBC Sports Network will broadcast the daily morning preliminaries with NBC airing coverage of the nightly finals. The schedule and availability of broadcast and stream coverage is available here.
Daly will compete in three events beginning with the 400 Individual Medley prelims on Sunday, June 13, and the 200 free on Monday, June 14. His final event, the 200 back, is set for Thursday, June 17. From Pearl River, New York, he earned All-America honorable-mention honors with his 12th-place finish in the 400 IM at the NCAA Championships after claiming gold at the 2021 Big Ten Championships. He became Penn State's first Big Ten Champion in the 400 IM with a career-best and school record 3:41.09.
A two-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) honorable-mention All-American, Daly's name appears eight times on the Nittany Lions' all-time top-10 lists with his school record 200 free time (1:34.39) and third-best 200 back time (1:40.63). His third Penn State record came in the 1,650 free event and four of his seven top-10 individual times are in that stroke.
Maddie Hart will swim the 100 fly on Sunday, June 13. Hart, who competed for the Nittany Lions from 2015-20, swam the butterfly leg of both the school record 200 and 400 Medley Relays. She competed in three events at the 2019 NCAA Championships, including the 100 and 200 fly, and ranks second all-time at Penn State in the 100 fly (51.64). She also posted two other top-five times during her career with the Nittany Lions as she is fourth in the 200 fly and fifth in the 100 back.
Harlow (Bentonville, Arkansas) steps onto the block for the 200 IM on Thursday, June 17. Harlow holds Penn State's second-best time in this event (1:44.64) with top-five times on the Nittany Lion charts in the 200 breast (5th, 1:58.12) and 400 IM (4th, 3:47.23). He finished 13th in the 200 IM at the 2021 Big Ten Championships, posting a time of 1:45.62.
Houck and Roberson close out the Nittany Lions' stay in Omaha as they will both compete in the 50 free on Saturday, June 19. Both were members of Penn State's record-setting 200 free and 200 Medley Relay teams in 2020-21.
Houck, an honorable mention All-American in 2021, competed in three events at the 2021 NCAA Championships. The product of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, helped to set school records in the 200 Free Relay (1:16.88) and at the 2021 Big Ten Championships, as part of the 200 Medley Relay team (1:24.86, fly). Houck recorded Penn State's fourth-best time in the 50 free (19.38) in his first Big Ten Championships.
Roberson (Fulshear, Texas) competed at the 2021 NCAA Championships in the 50 and 100 free events. He owns Penn State's third-best times in the 50 free (19.17) and 100 free (42.90). At the 2021 Big Ten Championships, Roberson placed third in the 50 free and 10th in the 100 free (43.13).
Maddie Cooke, Carly Hart, Morgan Rinn, Marie Schobel and Cat Stanford competed in Wave I of the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 4-7.
