JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Penn State men's golf rising junior Jimmy Meyers (Wexford, Pa.) fired a 2-under, 138 total in the two-round U.S. Amateur Qualifier at Sunnehanna Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday to finish tied for second amongst the field and punch his ticket to the 2021 U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 9-15 at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club.

Meyers carded a 1-over, 71, in Tuesday's first round before turning out a 3-under, 67, in Wednesday's second round. He birdied five holes in the second round, three on the back nine, and his 67 was the lowest second-round score in the entire field. Meyers' 138 total put him tied for second amongst a field of more than 100 golfers competing for five qualifying spots and two alternate spots.
Meyers will now go onto compete at the 121st-annual U.S. Amateur Championship, to be played from Aug. 9-15 at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club. Qualifiers continue at a total of 92 sites across the country over the next two weeks of July.
