ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's soccer senior Seth Kuhn was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Kuhn recorded seven total points on three goals and one assist as Penn State beat then-No. 7 Maryland and Wisconsin in the final week of the regular season to clinch its first Big Ten title since 2013.
The midfielder from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania scored the equalizing goal against Maryland in the second half, his first goal of the season, and then had the assist on the game-winning goal in overtime as the Nittany Lions overcame a 2-0 deficit to win.
Kuhn then recorded his first career multi-goal game at Wisconsin in the regular-season finale with the eventual game-winning goal in the first half and an insurance goal late in the second half that ended up as the No. 7 play on SportsCenter Top 10 that night.
Kuhn has three goals and a team-high seven assists for 13 total points headed into the postseason, career-high marks in each category.
The honor is the first of Kuhn's career and Penn State's third this season after Danny Bloyou (Oct. 12) and Peter Mangione (Sept. 28) also earned offensive player of the week nods.
Kuhn was also named Top Drawer Soccer's Player of the Week.
Kuhn and the 2021 Big Ten Regular Season Champion Nittany Lions are set to begin the postseason in the Big Ten Tournament this weekend. The No. 1-seeded Nittany Lions will host No. 8-seed Michigan State at Jeffrey Field on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. with a live broadcast on Big Ten Network.
