Penn State Fencing Finishes Strong at North American Cup with Jonathan Piskovatskov Tying for Bronze

University Park, Pa. -  The Penn State Nittany Lion fencing teams, under the direction of interim head coach Adam Kaszubowski, competed in the October North American Cup in St. Louis, Mo. from Oct. 29-Nov. 1.

In women's epee, Kateryna Chorniy (Kyiv, Ukraine) finished with a 3-1 record ending in 11th place. Freshman Jaclyn Khrol (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ended the day 2-1 in 22nd, and junior Nirali Igoe (Washington, D.C.) finished 0-1 tied for 88th.

For the men's epee squad, Jonathan Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas) tied for 3rd place going 4-1. Peter Kambeseles (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Daniel Shifron (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished with a 1-1 record ending in 64th and 150th. Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.), Stafford Moosekian (Los Angeles, Calif.), and Evan Xu (Sugarland, Texas) ended 0-1 finishing 42nd, 72nd  and 166th respectively. Devin Tafoya (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) ended in 79th place, and Mitchel Bekker finished the day in 88th place.

In men's epee, freshman Donavyn Martinez (Fresno, Calif.) ended the day 3-1 in 31st place. Arwen Borowiak (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany), Aidan Johnson (Oceanport, N.J.), Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Gavin Hay (Troy, Mich.), and Konner Paik (Norwood, N.J.) all finished 1-1 in men's foil earning 35th, 41st , 42nd , and 49th, and 124th place respectively. Caiden Cannon (Gahanna, Ohio) finished 0-1 in 173rd place.

Kamar Skeete (Duluth, Ga.) ended 1-1 in men's saber earning 46th place. Nick Zielinski (Prospect Heights, Ill.) finished with a 0-1 record ending in 107th place.
