Men's Lacrosse Announces 2022 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's lacrosse head coach Jeff Tambroni announced the 2022 schedule on Thursday. The slate features seven home games, including five non-conference and two Big Ten matchups.

Fans will get to see plenty of the Nittany Lions early in the season as four of the team's first five games will be played in Happy Valley.

Schedule Highlights

  • Penn State's first three games are at home, starting with the season opener against Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 5. The three home games span over just a 12-day stretch. Following the Leopards, the Lions host Villanova (Feb. 12) and Vermont (Feb. 16).
  • The Lions welcome two top-tier Ivy League teams to State College this season as they host Yale (Feb. 26) and Cornell (March 12). Additionally, they play Penn as part of the Crown Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 5.
  • The non-conference slate also includes road games at Saint Joseph's (Feb. 19) and Bucknell (March 15).
  • The Big Ten is back to a traditional schedule this season with each team playing the other five conference opponents once. Penn State opens the league schedule at home against defending champion Maryland on March 27. The Lions have just one other home Big Ten game (Michigan on April 9).
  • Penn State has three Big Ten road games this season – at Ohio State (April 2), at Johns Hopkins (April 16), and at Rutgers (April 24).
  • As usual, Tambroni put together a challenging schedule overall with eight of the 13 opponents having played in at least one of the past three NCAA Tournaments. Those opponents are Villanova, Vermont, Yale, Penn, Cornell, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and Rutgers.
  • The semifinal and championship rounds of the Big Ten Tournament will be hosted by Maryland this season.
