UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The USA Women's Volleyball Team, including former Penn State greats Haleigh Washington and Micha Hancock, opened the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) win over Argentina on Saturday night.
Washington was in the starting lineup and finished with three blocks, two kills and an ace. Hancock saw time at the service line.
Team USA improved to 1-0 in Pool B, which also includes Turkey, Italy, Russia and China. USA returns to action against China on Monday at 10:05 p.m. (ET). China dropped its opening match to Turkey by a 3-0 score. The match can be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com.
Hancock was a three-time All-American for Penn State and won back-to-back national titles with the Nittany Lions in 2013 and 2014. Washington also earned three All-America honors and joined Hancock on the 2014 title-winning team.
