UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's tennis (0-1) team heads back on the road for a matchup against the Cornell Big Red (2-0) on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 1:00 pm ET.
LAST TIME OUT
The Nittany Lions fell to Old Dominion, 5-2, in their first match of the 2022 season on Jan. 16. The Monarchs clinched the doubles point and won on four of the six courts to walk away with the win.
At No. 6, Loren Byers picked up the first singles point for Penn State and secured his first career win, 6-3, 6-3. On court two, Malik Bhatnagar defeated then-No. 91 Younes Lalami in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell started off their 2022 season with two wins last weekend, including a 7-0 blank over Fordham and a singles sweep against Drake. Cornell has received votes in the ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll for three-straight weeks.
This Cornell matchup marks the 43rd time the two programs will face off. They have split the last six, with Penn State securing the most recent 5-2 win in University Park in 2019.
