No. 6 Women’s Soccer Travels to Ohio State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 6 Penn State women's soccer program travels to Ohio State for a Big Ten Conference match on Sunday, Oct. 2 with a noon kickoff broadcasted live on B1G+.

LAST TIME OUT

  • PSU suffered its first conference loss, falling 2-1 to Michigan State on Thursday night. 
  • The Nittany Lions could not overcome two second half goals by the Spartans, finding the net themselves just once off the foot of Schlegel in the 82nd minute.
  • Schlegel's goal advanced her to 96 career points.
  • The Blue & White out-shot MSU 16 to eight and eight to five on shots on goal. However, MSU keeper Lauren Kozal made seven saves to keep her team ahead. 

SCOUTING OHIO STATE 

  • The Spartans are coming off a 4-0 road victory at Indiana on Thursday.
  • Four different Buckeyes scored goals at Indiana, and junior midfielder Kine Flotre tied the program's single-game record with three assists.
  • The Buckeyes had their third shutout in a row and their sixth of the season.
  • In league play, OSU has also beat Iowa (2-0), tied Michigan (0-0) and fell to No. 4 Rutgers (0-2).
  • Against ranked opponents, OSU has two losses (No. 9 BYU, 0-2; No. 4 Rutgers, 0-2) and one tie (No. 18 Texas A&M, 0-0).
  • Junior Peyton McNamara leads the team with five goals.
  • Goalkeeping has been split between graduate student Katherine Robinson (.857, 5-1-0) and freshman Molly Pritchard (.828, 2-1-2).

PENN STATE AGAINST OHIO STATE

  • Penn State leads the all-time series against Ohio State 24-8-2.
  • PSU is 3-1-1 against the Buckeyes in their last five matchups.
