Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Stony Brook on Saturday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men's lacrosse team returns home to host Stony Brook on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The series is tied at 2-2 as Penn State took the last matchup on Feb. 16, 2019 ,17-4. Penn State also won the matchup before on Feb. 17, 2018 by a score of 15-8. This will be the fifth game of the series between both teams.

WEEK 2 RECAP

  • Penn State enters Saturday's matchup after coming off a narrow 14-12 loss to Villanova on Sunday.
  • The Nittany Lions had seven goal scorers with TJ Malone leading the group with three on the day.
  • Hudson Bohn tallied 13-27 faceoff wins on the day while goalie Jack Fracyon recorded 12 saves and allowed 14 goals.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK

  • Stony Brook dropped its opening game of the season to Rutgers 11-7 on Saturday, Feb. 11. They sit 1-0 and 0-0 in CAA play.
  • Leading the team on the scoring front is Matt Anderson who registers three goals and one assist.
  • In net, stands Jamison MacLachlan who started in the season opener and has a GAA of 11.00 and save percentage of .676.

JORDAN LEADING THE WAY

  • Graduate student Chris Jordan is making a statement in his first year as a Ntitany Lion.
  • Jordan currently leads the team in points with nine after a two goal and one assist showing at Villanova.
  • He currently sits tied for second in the Big Ten in points (9) and goals (6) this season.

MALONE WITH THE HAT-TRICK

  • Graduate student TJ Malone tallied his 11th career hat-trick in the Nittany Lions 14-12 loss to Villanova.
  • Malone currently sits third on the team in goals with five on the year.
  • He is also tied for second on team in points with eight as he adds three assists to his scoring resume.

TAMBRONI NEARING 100

  • Penn State men's lacrosse head coach Jeff Tambroni currently sits at 97 wins as a head coach at Penn State.
  • He is three wins shy from 100 at Penn State which would make him just the second Penn State men's lacrosse head coach to surpass that mark.
  • Previous head coach Glenn Thiel is the only other Nittany Lion lacrosse coach to surpass 100 wins at Penn State.
