Women’s Basketball Nets Three CSC All-Academic District Selections

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State women's basketball players Ali Brigham, Anna Camden and Makenna Marisa were named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District First Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Marisa has garnered the selection for the second-straight year, including Academic All-America Third Team last season.


 
Marisa has produced another stellar season. She leads the team in scoring (18.2 points per game), assists (4.3 per game) and made three's (55) in addition to 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. She continues to etch her name over the school's record book. In her last game, she moved to 10th in career points (1,735) and ranks tied for third in 30-point games (seven), fifth in career three-point field goals made (182), seventh in career free throw percentage (81.6%), eighth in career scoring average (15.8 ppg), tied for ninth in career double-digit assist games (three) and 11th in career assists (428).
 
In the Big Ten, Marisa ranks first in minutes per game, fifth in points, sixth in three-point percentage (35.2), seventh in three-pointers made, eighth in assists per game, 10th in steals (49) and 11th in assist/turnover ratio (1.6). She has racked up 11 20-point scoring games this season.
 
The senior guard boasts a 3.81 GPA as an Elementary and Early Childhood Education major. Marisa has earned Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award selections the last two seasons.
 
Camden been an important rotation player and starter in all four seasons in the blue and white. She has produced 564 points, 307 rebounds, 106 three-pointers and 61 blocks in her career.
 
The senior forward has earned a 3.78 GPA as a Broadcast Journalism major along with a minor in Sport Studies and is set to graduate this semester. Like Marisa, Camden has garnered Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award selections the last two seasons.
 
Brigham has been a big presence in the post in her two seasons as a Lady Lion. She has averaged 7.9 points per game in her career along with 281 rebounds, 69 assists and 65 blocks. She led Penn State to a home win over Northwestern on Feb. 2 with 19 points on 9-10 shooting from the field and two blocks.
 
The junior forward possesses a 3.68 GPA while majoring in Communications.
 
The Lady Lions return to action at Purdue Wednesday at 7 p.m.
