UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (4-2, 0-0 B1G), ranked No. 12 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll, continues a five-game home stand this weekend. Head coach Lisa Bervinchak Love and her squad open up Big Ten play against No. 10 Rutgers (6-0, 0-0 B1G) on Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. and then host Bucknell (*3-3) on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m. in non-conference action. *Bucknell is at Lafayette on Friday night as well.

Penn State is coming off a two win weekend, opening up home action with a 5-0 victory over Kent State last Friday and a 4-1 win over No. 19 Delaware on Sunday. The Nittany Lion offense featured balanced scoring with multiple athletes connecting for goals. The Penn State defense also secured its first shutout of the season.

The Nittany Lions are being led by Sophia Gladieux, who has 19 points off nine goals and one assist. Mackenzie Allessie checks in with 10 off four and two while Carly Gannon has nine off three and three. Goalie Brie Barraco has 29 saves and a .763 save percentage.

Rutgers will roll into the Big Ten opener on Friday with a 6-0 mark. The Scarlet Knights beat Villanova 6-2 last Friday and No. 15 Princeton 2-1 on Sunday. Penn State leads the all-time series with the Scarlet Knights 20-8-3, including a 3-1 win in New Jersey last October.

Bucknell, which visits Lafayette on Friday night while Penn State hosts Rutgers, enters the weekend with a 3-3 mark. The Bison beat Towson 7-4 last Friday night and then nipped Kent State 2-1 on Sunday. Penn State leads the all-time series with the Bison 44-2-2, including a 4-0 win at Bucknell last October.

Penn State will play its fifth straight home game next weekend when the Nittany Lions host Syracuse on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m. in non-conference action.

PHIA GLADIEUX'S HAT TRICK LEADS LIONS TO 4-1 IN OVER #19 DELAWARE
Phia Gladieux tallied her first hat trick of the season, scoring three goals to lead Penn State to a 4-1 victory over No. 19 Delaware on Sept. 10 at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex. Gladieux was joined in the scoring column by Aubrey Semler, who scored her first career goal in the victory.

BALANCED OFFENSE, STRONG DEFENSE LEADS PENN STATE TO 5-0 WIN OVER KENT STATE
Penn State had four different players pick up multiple points and a total of five involved in scoring plays, and had a defense that recorded its first shutout, as the Nittany Lions downed Kent State 5-0 in the team's home opener on Sept. 9. Mackenzie Allessie had two goals, Phia Gladieux had a goal and an assist, Carly Gannon had a goal and an assist, Sophia Mannino had a goal and an assist, and Natalie Freeman had an assist. Brie Barraco and Lauren Delgado combined for the team's first shutout and Penn state held KSU to only two shots.

CARLY GANNON TALLIES SIX POINTS; GLADIEUX SCORES TWICE IN WIN AT STANFORD
Senior Carly Gannon had a career-best six points in Penn State's 5-1 win at Stanford on Sept. 3. Gannon had two goals and two assists in the non-conference victory. Phia Gladieux also had two goals in the win while keeper Lauren Delgado had five saves in her 15 minutes during the fourth period.

PHIA GLADIEUX SCORES TWICE IN TOUGH ROAD LOSS AT CAL
Senior Phia Gladieux scored both of Penn State's goals in a hard-fought 3-2 double-overtime loss at Cal on Sept. 1. The game was the first of two during a weekend West Coast Road sing for the Nittany Lions.

ALLESSIE SPARKS PENN STATE TO 3-2 OVERTIME WIN AT AMERICAN
Mackenzie Allessie scored the game's final two goals to spark Penn State to a 3-2 come-from-behind win at American on Aug. 27. Allessie's goals helped Penn State erase an early 2-0 deficit to the Eagles. Sophia Gladieux had the other goal for Penn State in the win.

LIONS DROP SEASON OPENER AT #6 VIRGINIA
Penn State lost a hard-fought 2-1 game to #6 Virginia in the season opener for both teams on Aug. 25. Freshman Natalie Freeman scored her first career goal to start the game but the Cavaliers scored the game's final two goals to grab the win. 

ALLESSIE, BARRACO, GANNON VOTED TEAM CAPTAINS
Seniors Mackenzie Allessie, Brie Barraco and Carly Gannon have been named team captains for the 2023 season. The tri-captains were  voted on by their teammates.

PENN STATE SLATED FOR TWO NATIONAL TELECASTS ON THE BIG TEN NETWORK
The Penn State Nittany Lions will appear on two Big Ten Network national telecasts during the regular season. The games at Maryland on Oct. 1 (2 p.m.) and at Michigan on Oct. 15 (12 p.m.) have both been selected as national telecasts by the network.

Transportation Services has announced parking information for Penn State field hockey games at the Field Hockey Complex for the 2023 season.

•    Yellow H lots at Shields and Wagner (all games except Fri. Oct. 20, but not purchasable through ParkMobile – see below for details)

PARKING PAYMENT INFORMATION
•    No charge with a valid Penn State parking permit
•    Prepaid parking available through https://psu.parkmobile.io/field-hockey-complex 
o    $5.50 through day before event, $10 day of event
o    Fans who prepay for Stadium West or Jordan East parking through ParkMobile may also park at the Yellow H lots near the Shields and Wagner buildings except when they are posted as reserved for Bryce Jordan Center or Pegula Ice Arena event parking. 
•    Day-of event payment at Stadium West and Jordan East also available using in-lot pay stations or the ParkMobile app (zone no. 95112)
•    On days when Field Hockey overlaps with a Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball or Men's Hockey game, ParkMobile prepayment and zone parking and pay station parking for Field Hockey will end two hours before those events, and cash only payment ($10) will be collected at the lots by attendants for those without a valid permit or prepayment. When Field Hockey games overlap with a Bryce Jordan Center concert/show, day-of-event payment may be as high as $30 for those without a permit or prepayment.
•    $1 per hour parking also available at the East Deck for most games

    Note: If a different vehicle must be driven than the one registered at purchase, users must contact ParkMobile Support through the ParkMobile website or app (Settings – Chat Support) to request a vehicle change for that reservation.
o    Purchase parking for the event
•    Note:
o    Guests must present their ParkMobile QR code to event parking staff on their mobile device, if requested. Printed permits from the ParkMobile website will also be accepted.
IMPORTANT PARKING REMINDERS
All vehicles must be parked with the license plate facing the drive aisle located closest to the parking space so that payment can be verified by parking enforcement staff.
A valid permit or payment is required in event parking areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles parked without a valid permit or payment may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
