UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (2-2, 0-0 B1G), ranked No. 11 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll, debuts in Happy Valley this weekend, hosting Kent State (1-3) on Friday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. and No. 19 Delaware (3-1) on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.
Penn State is coming off a split weekend on the West Coast. The Nittany Lions dropped a tough 3-2 double-overtime game at Cal last Friday and then downed Stanford 5-1 last Sunday. Sophia Gladieux had two goals in each game while Carly Gannon tallied six points in the Stanford win (two goals, two assists).
The Nittany Lions are being led by Gladieux's 10 points off five goals. Gannon is second on the team with six points (two and two) while Mackenzie Allessie checks in with four points off two goals. Brie Barraco has a .733 save percentage with 22 saves in the cage for Penn State.
Kent State enters the weekend 1-3 overall. The Golden Flashes downed Big Ten opponnent Michigan State 1-0 last Friday before losing a hard-fought 5-4 game to UC-Davis on Sunday. Penn State leads the all-time series with Kent State 6-0, including a 3-0 Penn State win on the road last year.
Delaware enters its weekend with a 3-1 record. The Blue Hens, ranked No. 19 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll, host Princeton Friday night while Penn State hosts Kent State. Delaware won two games last weekend, 8-0 over Villanova and 4-2 over Columbia (both games were played in Newark, Del.). The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series with Delaware 18-7-2, including a 4-2 win in Newark last season.
Penn State continues a lengthy home stand news weekend, opening up Big Ten play vs. Rutgers on Friday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. Two days later, Penn State hosts Bucknell at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. Both games are at the FH Complex.

CARLY GANNON TALLIES SIX POINTS; GLADIEUX SCORES TWICE IN WIN AT STANFORD
Senior Carly Gannon had a career-best six points in Penn State's 5-1 win at Stanford on Sept. 3. Gannon had two goals and two assists in the non-conference victory. Phia Gladieux also had two goals in the win while keeper Lauren Delgado had five saves in her 15 minutes during the fourth period.
PHIA GLADIEUX SCORES TWICE IN TOUGH ROAD LOSS AT CAL
Senior Phia Gladieux scored both of Penn State's goals in a hard-fought 3-2 double-overtime loss at Cal on Sept. 1. The game was the first of two during a weekend West Coast Road sing for the Nittany Lions.
ALLESSIE SPARKS PENN STATE TO 3-2 OVERTIME WIN AT AMERICAN
Mackenzie Allessie scored the game's final two goals to spark Penn State to a 3-2 come-from-behind win at American on Aug. 27. Allessie's goals helped Penn State erase an early 2-0 deficit to the Eagles. Sophia Gladieux had the other goal for Penn State in the win.
LIONS DROP SEASON OPENER AT #6 VIRGINIA
Penn State lost a hard-fought 2-1 game to #6 Virginia in the season opener for both teams on Aug. 25. Freshman Natalie Freeman scored her first career goal to start the game but the Cavaliers scored the game's final two goals to grab the win.

Seniors Mackenzie Allessie, Brie Barraco and Carly Gannon have been named team captains for the 2023 season. The tri-captains were voted on by their teammates.

PENN STATE SLATED FOR TWO NATIONAL TELECASTS ON THE BIG TEN NETWORK
The Penn State Nittany Lions will appear on two Big Ten Network national telecasts during the regular season. The games at Maryland on Oct. 1 (2 p.m.) and at Michigan on Oct. 15 (12 p.m.) have both been selected as national telecasts by the network.

Transportation Services has announced parking information for Penn State field hockey games at the Field Hockey Complex for the 2023 season.

• Yellow H lots at Shields and Wagner (all games except Fri. Oct. 20, but not purchasable through ParkMobile – see below for details)

PARKING PAYMENT INFORMATION
• No charge with a valid Penn State parking permit
• Prepaid parking available through https://psu.parkmobile.io/field-hockey-complex
o $5.50 through day before event, $10 day of event
o Fans who prepay for Stadium West or Jordan East parking through ParkMobile may also park at the Yellow H lots near the Shields and Wagner buildings except when they are posted as reserved for Bryce Jordan Center or Pegula Ice Arena event parking.
• Day-of event payment at Stadium West and Jordan East also available using in-lot pay stations or the ParkMobile app (zone no. 95112)
• On days when Field Hockey overlaps with a Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball or Men's Hockey game, ParkMobile prepayment and zone parking and pay station parking for Field Hockey will end two hours before those events, and cash only payment ($10) will be collected at the lots by attendants for those without a valid permit or prepayment. When Field Hockey games overlap with a Bryce Jordan Center concert/show, day-of-event payment may be as high as $30 for those without a permit or prepayment.

IMPORTANT PARKING REMINDERS
All vehicles must be parked with the license plate facing the drive aisle located closest to the parking space so that payment can be verified by parking enforcement staff.
A valid permit or payment is required in event parking areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles parked without a valid permit or payment may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
