HISTORY
- Penn State is facing Syracuse for the 48th time in program history.
- Penn State and Syracuse met for the first time in Oct. 2012, with their most recent meeting in Feb. 2022.
- Syracuse leads the series 9-30-8.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse enters the weekend series with a 3-5-1 overall record.
- The Orange are coming off a series at Boston University where they drew 4-4 in game one and fell in game two 6-1.
- Leading the way offensively is Kate Holmes and Darci Johal. Both players each tally six points off two goals and four assists.
- In between the pipes stands Allie Kelley who tallies a record of 3-5-1 with a GAA of 3.42 and save percentage of .899. She currently has 276 saves on the year.
TWO NITTANY LIONS TO HIT 100 GAMES
- Senior forward Maeve Connolly is set to appear in her 100th game on Saturday at Syracuse as she played her 99th game at Cornell on October .
- Seasoned senior goaltender Josie Bothun is also set to appear in her 100th game this weekend, currently sitting at 98 games played.
RIVALRY SERIES REPRESENTING
- Sophomore forward Tessa Janecke was named to the United States National team roster for the November Rivalry Series games earlier this month.
- Janecke will play two games versus Canada on Nov. 8 and 11.
- This is the second time that Janecke was chosen to be on the roster.
- The Orangeville, Ill. native has competed for team USA on multiple teams. Janecke appeared at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, played for team USA in 2023 in the rivalry series, and at the 2023 IIHF Women's Hockey Championships where she captured gold.
HENGELMÜLLER ON THE BOARD
- Freshman defensive player Karolina Hengelmüller recorded her first point versus Cornell on Oct. 13 with an assist.
- Along with the assist, the Lengenfeld, Austria native has played in all eight games this season recording seven blocks and 10 shots on goal.
- Hengelmuller was voted the CHA Preseason Co-Rookie of the Year in September.
IN THE RANKINGS
- The Nittany Lions ranked 15th in both the USA Hockey and USCHO polls.
- Penn State has remained ranked for all five weeks of the poll.
