Colleton River Collegiate Day One Results
BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Penn State men's golf team is tied for fourth after shooting a stellar 22-under, 554, through the opening two rounds of the Colleton River Collegiate Monday at the Colleton River Club's Nicklaus Course.
The Nittany Lions shot a 13-under, 275, in the opening round before carding a 9-under, 279, in the afternoon round and head into Tuesday's final round tied for fourth in the strong 12-team field.
Junior James Allen is in sixth place to lead the way for the Nittany Lions at 8-under, 136. Allen carded a bogey-free 6-under, 66, in the morning round and followed up with a 2-under, 70, in the afternoon.
Senior Jimmy Meyers follows, currently sitting tied for 22nd at 5-under, 139. Meyers finished 2-under, 70, in the first round before moving up five spots in the second round with a 3-under, 69.
Sophomore Jake Griffin is tied for 27th after shooting a pair of 2-under, 70s, to sit at 4-under, 140, heading into Tuesday's final round.
Freshman Billy Pabst Jr. is tied for 36th at 3-under, 141, while senior Patrick Sheehan is tied for 40th at 2-under, 142. Freshman Jack Zubkus is playing as an individual and is tied for 69th at 9-over, 153.
No. 21 Kansas State leads the team race at 32-under, 544. No. 24 Georgia Southern (27-under, 549) and host Michigan State (23-under, 553) sit second and third, while the Nittany Lions and Indiana are tied for fourth at 22-under, 554, heading into Tuesday's final round.
