ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Penn State men's gymnastics finished third with a score of 385.200 at the Navy Open on Saturday.
Big Ten rival Ohio State won the competition with a score of 397.300. Host Navy took second with a score of 391.250. Rounding out the meet were Springfield (372.550) and William & Mary (366.100).
Penn State had three individual event winners. The team notched a season high score on parallel bars, collecting 65.950 points.
Senior Michael Jaroh made his season debut with a first-place finish on pommel horse (13.950). He also placed second on parallel bars (13.900) and competed on rings (13.100).
"I am really pleased with Michael Jaroh with his effort, said head coach Randy Jepson. "This is the first time this season he really got to get in and compete. He did a great job on pommel horse. His parallel bars and rings performance was really solid. I am pleased with that."
Graduate student Nate Warren secured his second consecutive ring victory with a score of 13.700.
Akseli Karsikas won high bar with a personal best score of 13.850. The freshman also competed on rings (12.800) and parallel bar (11.650).
Kacper Garnczarek tied for third on floor with a score of 13.300. The sophomore matched career high on high bar to place fourth (13.300) and competed on vault (13.150).
Freshman Landon Simpson achieved career highs on parallel bars (13.700) and vault (14.400). He also competed on pommel horse (12.45).
