UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Michael Artlip, Matt Cormier and Josh Karnes will travel to Louisville for the 2024 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup hosted in the Kentucky International Convention Center this weekend.
Former Penn State gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik will also compete at the event.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Artlip earned an automatic qualification for the Winter Cup after winning the all-around title with a career high score of 81.400 at the West Point Open last month.
Cormier and Karnes were Penn State's accepted entries into the competition based off their final rankings from the 2023 Xfinity U.S. Championships.
LAST TIME OUT
Penn State men's gymnastics team posted a season high score in their 407.500-399.300 win against No. 6 Ohio State, their first head-to-head victory against the Buckeyes since 2020, on Saturday evening in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions earned season best team scores on pommel horse (66.800) and parallel bars (70.200).
The Nittany Lions swept the top-four scores on pommel horse to take the event. Ethan Dick earned his first career pommel horse event win, scoring with season high of 13.150. On parallel bars, Ian Raubal took first place with a career high score of 14.550 with a stick bonus and Josh Karnes placed second with a score of 14.450. Michael Jaroh earned first on vault with a season high score of 14.500, placed third on parallel bars tying his career high score of 14.200 and took third with a season high score of 13.900 on rings.
MEET HISTORY
In the 2023 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup, Karnes placed third in the all-around to earn a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team. His combined all-around score from the two days of competition was 160.250. He medaled on parallel bars with a combined score of 28.700, good for a bronze medal. He notched fourth place finishes on floor with a 27.450 combined score and high bar with a 26.550 combined score.
Artlip, Cormier, and Jaroh competed on the first day of the competition.
