Women’s Lacrosse to Play Lehigh Tuesday Afternoon

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse will match up against Lehigh Tuesday, March 12 at Ulrich Sports Complex in Bethlehem, Pa. 
 
First draw is set for 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Penn State upset No. 22 Rutgers in a 10-9 overtime victory. Gretchen Gilmore led the offense with four goals, including the game winning goal. The team improved to 3-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
 
Nittany Lions vs. Mountain Hawks
Penn State is currently undefeated against Lehigh in the all-time series with games dating back to 2009. In their last 11 match ups, the Nittany Lions have scored at least 12 goals against the Mountain Hawks. 
 
In their most recent game in 2020, Penn State defeated Lehigh 13-9 at Panzer Stadium. 
 
Scouting the Mountain Hawks
Lehigh is currently 4-1 overall under the direction of seasoned head coach Jill Redfern. Redfern is in her 16thseason with the team. The Mountain Hawks are on a three-game winning streak with victories against Jacksonville, Wofford, Old Dominion and American. The team dropped their first game of the season against Delaware, 11-7. 
 
Senior Olivia Memeger leads the Mountain Hawks on offense with 14 goals and six assists on the season. 
 
In net is Hayley Hunt who has 49 saves and has allowed 44 goals in five game. 
 
Preseason Nods
Penn State was ranked No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse preseason poll and No. 18 in the IWLCA preseason poll. In the Big Ten, the Nittany Lions were picked to finish seventh. 
 
Senior captain O'Neill was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American third team and was an Inside Lacrosse Returning Player to Watch. She was also named a Big Ten Player to Watch along with junior Ellie Hollin and senior Sammy Dupcak
 
Most recently O'Neill was named to the prestigious Tawaaraton Watch List for the third consecutive season.

The Nittany Lions' return 29-of-33 players from their 2023 roster, including 12 players who appeared in every game last season. The 39-player roster features nine freshmen, eight sophomores, eight juniors, nine seniors and five graduate students.
