Women’s Lacrosse to End Road Trip at Cornell Saturday Afternoon

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse will match up against Cornell Saturday, March 16 at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y. 
 
First draw is set for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Penn State upset Lehigh in a 9-7 victory. Emma Kelly led the offense with her third hat trick of the season. Penn State remains undefeated in this series against the Mountain Hawks. 
 
Nittany Lions vs. Big Red
Penn State is 14-3 all-time against Cornell with games dating back to 1970. In their first ever game, the Nittany Lions defeated the Big Red 9-7. Kristin O'Neill and Meghan Murray scored four goals a piece in the victory.

Scouting the Big Red
Cornell is currently 5-1 overall under the head coach Jenny Graap. Graap is in her 26th season with the team. The Big Red have defeated California, Le Moyne, Dartmouth, Columbia and Binghamton. The team lost their first game of the season against Virginia, 11-20. 
 
Junior Josie Vogel leads the Big Red on offense with 15 goals and four assists on the season. 
 
Cornell is currently unranked, receiving votes on the latest poll.

Preseason Nods
Penn State was ranked No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse preseason poll and No. 18 in the IWLCA preseason poll. In the Big Ten, the Nittany Lions were picked to finish seventh. 
 
Senior captain O'Neill was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American third team and was an Inside Lacrosse Returning Player to Watch. She was also named a Big Ten Player to Watch along with junior Ellie Hollin and senior Sammy Dupcak
 
O'Neill was named to the prestigious Tawaaraton Watch List for the third consecutive season.

The Nittany Lions' return 29-of-33 players from their 2023 roster, including 12 players who appeared in every game last season. The 39-player roster features nine freshmen, eight sophomores, eight juniors, nine seniors and five graduate students.
