Women's Lacrosse Returns Home to Face No. 1 Northwestern

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse returns home to face No. 1 Northwestern Friday, March 22 at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network at Panzer Stadium.

Parking 
GAME DAY PARKING LOCATIONS 
• Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North 
• Parking available beginning two hours before each game 
* TAILGATING IS NOT PERMITTED IN CAMPUS PARKING LOTS. All drive lanes must be open to two-way traffic. Setting up chairs, tents, etc. in parking spaces is prohibited. University Policy AD18 prohibits the use of alcohol on campus. 
 
PARKING PAYMENT INFORMATION 
• No charge with a valid Penn State parking permit 
• Prepaid parking 
• Day-of event payment also available for $10 by using in-lot pay stations or the ParkMobile app (zone no. 95112 beginning two hours before the event) 
• On days when lacrosse overlaps with a men's basketball, women's basketball, or men's hockey game, ParkMobile prepayment and zone parking and pay station parking for lacrosse will end two hours before those events, and cash only payment ($10) will be collected at the lots by attendants for those without a valid permit or prepayment. When lacrosse games overlap with a Bryce Jordan Center concert/show, day-of-event payment may be as high as $20 for those without a permit or prepayment. 
• $1 per hour parking also available at the East Deck for most games 
  
All vehicles must be parked with the license plate facing the drive aisle located closest to the parking space so that payment can be verified by parking enforcement staff. A valid permit or payment is required in event parking areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles parked without a valid permit or payment may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense. Nittany Lions vs. Wildcats 
The Nittany Lions fall behind in the all-time series against the Wildcats, 9-27. Penn State won their first meeting in 1984, 16-6.

The Wildcats won the most recent meeting, 19-9, last March. Gretchen Gilmore led the scoring efforts in the loss with three goals. 
 
Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats currently ranked first in the country with a record of 8-1 on the season under head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. Northwestern has defeated five ranked teams, included previous No. 1 Boston College, 14-11. Madison Taylor leads the team in goals with 35, while Erin Coykendall leads the team with 26 assists. 
 
Last Time Out 
Penn State won its third straight game in a close 12-11 victory over Cornell at Schoellkopf Field on Saturday, March 16. Payton Wainman and Kristin O'Neill led scoring with four goals apiece, along with three other athletes notching a goal. 
 
Preseason Nods
Penn State was ranked No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse preseason poll and No. 18 in the IWLCA preseason poll. In the Big Ten, the Nittany Lions were picked to finish seventh. 
 
Senior captain Kristin O'Neill was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American third team and was an Inside Lacrosse Returning Player to Watch. She was also named a Big Ten Player to Watch along with junior Ellie Hollin and senior Sammy Dupcak
 
Most recently O'Neill was named to the prestigious Tawaaraton Watch List for the third consecutive season.
 
Run it Back
The Nittany Lions' return 29-of-33 players from their 2023 roster, including 12 players who appeared in every game last season. The 39-player roster features nine freshmen, eight sophomores, eight juniors, nine seniors and five graduate students.

MacKinney and Manning were named Inside Lacrosse Top 100 Freshmen in November.
