No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Gears Up for Big Ten Championship Game Against No. 17/18 Michigan

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 9 Penn State men's lacrosse team embarks on their second ever appearance at the Big Ten tournament championship game as they will face No. 17/18 Michigan on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m. The game will be played at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This is the 15th meeting between Michigan and Penn State. 
  • The Nittany Lions lead the series 11-3 with the last match-up coming on April 13 where Penn State defeated the Wolverines 14-8.

DEFENSE HOLDING THE LINE

  • In the Nittany Lions 14 games they've played this season they have held opponents to under 10 goals a game in 11 games.  
  • Meanwhile, they are forcing a minimum of four turnovers per game against opponents as well.
  • Sophomore Alex Ross currently leads the defensive attack with 12 caused turnovers this season.
  • Meanwhile, goalie Jack Fracyon has tallied a total of 180 saves, GAA of 9.35 and save percentage of .598. 

FINALLY GOT EM'

  • For the first time since 2019, Penn State defeated Maryland following their 19-9 victory in Saturday's Big Ten semifinal game.
  • It's the second time since 1920 that the Nittany Lions have edged the Terrapins in program history. 

WE'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE

  • Penn State makes their second Big Ten tournament championship game appearance in program history.
  • The last time took place in 2019 where the Nittany Lions defeated Johns Hopkins 18-17 in overtime to clinch their first Big Ten Tournament title.
