UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's tennis team will hit the road this weekend to finish off their regular season against two Big Ten opponents. The Blue and White will take on Wisconsin (1-19 (0-7)) on Friday, Apr. 19 at 4 p.m in Madison, Wisc. at the Nielsen Tennis Center. On Sunday, the squad will face No. 58 Nebraska (15-8 (4-3)) on Sunday, Apr. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Dillion Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb.
Senior Miko Eala enters the weekend ranked nationally at No. 79 in singles. He comes off a victorious weekend, upsetting Michigan State's No. 43, Ronnie Hohmann, in a thrilling 6-3, 6-2 victory. Eala continues to lead the team in wins, collecting 15 this season, including a 5-1 conference record. Freshman Nolan Ranger follows with 10 wins and sophomore Stefan Simeunovic with eight wins.
In doubles, Simeunovic and Eala lead the squad with six wins each this season. Freshman Jack Martuccio follows with five wins.
SCOUTING WISCONSIN
The Badgers hold a 1-19 (0-7) record on the season. Wisconsin's roster consists of one ranked doubles duo, #81 Mihailo Popovic and Michael Minasyan. The Badgers' previous match resulted in a 5-2 loss to No. 69 Indiana.
PREVIEWING NEBRASKA
The Cornhuskers are ranked nationally at No. 58, with a 15-8 (4-3) record. The Cornhuskers roster consists of one ranked singles player, #119 Calvin Mueller, and one ranked doubles duo, #85 Nic Windenhorn and Anton Shepp. The Cornhuskers' will host No.1 Ohio State on Friday before Sunday's match against the Nittany Lions.
UP NEXT
Following the regular season, the Blue and White will head to Evanston, Ill. for the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Northwestern. The tournament will be held at the Combe Tennis Center, and is set to run from Thursday, Apr. 25 to Sunday. Apr. 28.
