Track and Field Teams Conclude Florida Relays

Men’s and women’s track teams record strong outings in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Nittany Lions wrapped up their meet at the Florida Relays in Gainesville on Saturday with strong performances throughout day two from both the men’s and women’s track teams.   

TOP PERFORMANCES  

Zoey Goldstein outperformed her own No. 8 mark in program history in the women’s 400-meter race after she placed 14th to set a PR of 53.07 and move to the No. 5 spot in Penn State history.  

Allison Johnson finished seventh in the women’s 800-meter race, clocking in at a season-best 2:04.79.  

Ajani Dwyer continued his success in the men’s 100-meter race by replacing his own No. 2 mark in Penn State history set at the LSU Battle on the Bayou at a time of 10.19 at the Florida Relays.  

Freshman Jake Palermo set the new No. 7 time in the men's 400-meter race in program history with a time of 46.36 after finishing in 14th place. 

In the men’s 800-meter race, Handal Roban finished second overall at a time of 1:45.16, which moves him up to the No. 2 all-time spot and sets a new PR.  

TRACK EVENT SUMMARY 

Women’s 400m  

  • Goldstein placed 14th to set a PR of 53.07 and take the No. 5 spot on the all-time list 

Women’s 800m 

  • Johnson completed the race in seventh place with a time of 2:04.79, just shy of tying her No. 7 program mark  
  • Ada Rand finished in 24th place with a time of 2:08.37  

Men’s 100m  

  • Dwyer replaces his own No. 2 all-time mark after he came in seventh at a time of 10.19 

Men’s 400m 

  • Palermo finished in 14th place at a time of 46.36 and records the new No. 7 time in the men's 400-meter in program history 

Men’s 800m 

  • Roban finished in second place, setting a new PR of 1:45.16 to take the No. 2 mark in program history  

Men’s 4x400 Invite

  • Dylan Lambrecht finished seventh overall after he recorded an 18.46m (60-6.75) throw

Penn State track and field starts a split-squad weekend at the Duke Invitational on Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12 in Durham, N.C. The Bison Outdoor Classic starts on Friday, April 11 and goes through Sunday, April 13 in Lewisburg, Pa.
