UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Thirty-one individual entries and one relay team from the Penn State track and field squad have qualified and declared for the 2025 NCAA Track and Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday. The group will begin competition at the East Region Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. on Wednesday, May 28, with events running through Saturday, May 31.
Penn State’s women’s squad declared 16 individual entries that will take part in nine events throughout the week in Jacksonville. Florence Caron enters competition as the highest-ranked individual qualifier for the Nittany Lions, coming in at No. 5 in the East region in the 10,000-meter race and No. 6 in the East region in the 5,000-meter race. Caron is fresh off a Big Ten silver-medal performance in the 10,000-meter and bronze-medal effort in the 5,000-meter at last weekend’s Big Ten Championships. Victoria Atkinson (pole vault) and Audrey Friedman (javelin) lead Penn State's women's field qualifiers, both coming in at No. 25 in the East region in their respective field events.
The Nittany Lion men’s team declared 15 individual entries and one relay team to compete in Jacksonville next week, with the 16 total entries to compete in 10 different events. Three-time first-team All-American Handal Roban (2023 outdoor, 2023 and 2024 indoor) looks to punch another ticket to Oregon as Penn State’s highest individual qualifier, coming in at No. 4 in the East region in the 800-meter race. High jumper Isaac Osifo is the Nittany Lions’ highest-ranked field qualifier, coming in at No. 6 in the East region.
NCAA East Preliminary participants will compete for a shot to move on to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon. The top 12 in each event and relay at the prelims will earn their chance to compete for a championship in June at Hayward Field.
