UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s basketball team welcomes Navy to the Bryce Jordan Center Tuesday night for a Veteran’s Day meeting at 6:30 p.m. The game will air nationally on Big Ten Network.

  • The Nittany Lions return home Tuesday night to host Navy in a Veteran's Day affair inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
  • Penn State is 2-0 on the young season and coming off its largest road win in 50 years, an 87-43 victory at New Haven Saturday. The Nittany Lions opened the season with a 76-68 victory over Fairfield on Nov. 3 in which Penn State closed the game on a 16-2 run, including the game's final 11 points.
  • Kayden Mingo has led Penn State with 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game through Penn State's first two games. Melih Tunca follows with 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

 

IF PENN STATE BEATS NAVY

  • The Nittany Lions would start the season 3-0 for the fourth-straight season and fifth time in the last seven years.

 

SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN

  • The Midshipmen are 1-1 on the young season and head to Happy Valley following a 97-68 home loss to Yale Friday.
  • Navy earned a 76-55 road win at Presbyterian in the Mids' season opener Monday night.
  • Austin Benigni and Aidan Kehoe have both averaged 12.5 points per game to lead the Midshipmen attack through the first two games of the season. Jinwoo Kim follows with 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
  • Navy is in its first season under head coach Jon Perry. Perry was most recently the associate head coach of the Mids.
  • The Mids are coming off a 2024-25 season that saw Navy go 15-19 overall and 10-8 in Patriot League play. Navy advanced to the Patriot League Tournament championship game.

 

AGAINST NAVY

  • Penn State and Navy meet for the 58th time in program history, but first time in 40 years, in a series that dates back to 1915.
  • The Nittany Lions and Mids haven't met since 1985, a Navy win in Annapolis.
  • Penn State is 10-3 all-time when playing Navy in Happy Valley.

  • Penn State is 2-0 on the young season after earning an 87-43 road win at New Haven Saturday and a 76-68 home win over Fairfield in last Monday's season opener.
  • The Nittany Lions earned their largest road win in 50 years Saturday at New Haven as Penn State took down the Chargers by a 44-point margin. Monday's season-opener featured much more drama, as the Nittany Lions battled back to close the game on a 16-2 run, which included the game’s final 11 points.
  • Penn State is averaging 81.5 points per game while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from 3-point range through the first two games of the season. The Nittany Lions have scored 38 points off their opponents' 26 turnovers.
  • Kayden Mingo (15.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.0 apg), Melih Tunca (13.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.0 apg) and Dominick Stewart (12.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg) have led Penn State through the first two games of the season.

  • The Nittany Lion rookies have combined to shoot 55.6 percent (35-for-63) from the field in Penn State's first two games.

 

YEAR THREE

  • The Nittany Lions enter their third season under Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades in 2025-26. Rhoades has laid a strong foundation during his first two seasons and welcomes back key returnees, a top-30 recruiting class and experienced international players for the 2025-26 season.
  • Rhoades orchestrated the highest-scoring offense in Penn State history in 2024-25 as the Nittany Lions set a single-season program record with 79.1 points per game during his second season at the helm. He and his staff engineered the identification and development of Penn State's first-ever first-round NBA Draft pick in Yanic Konan Niederhauser, who was selected with the 30th overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.

 

NEW-LOOK NITTANY LIONS

  • The new-look Nittany Lions feature 10 new players this season.
  • Penn State returns just 14.6 percent of points, 11.0 percent of rebounds, 12.5 percent of assists and 15.5 percent of minutes played from last season in its three returners - Freddie Dilione V, Eli Rice and Dominick Stewart.
  • The Nittany Lion roster is the 10th-most inexperienced roster in Division I per Bart Torvik's experience metric. The Penn State roster features one senior, two juniors, two sophomores and eight freshmen.
