No. 25 Women's Volleyball Closes Regular Season with 3-1 Win at Iowa

CORALVILLE, Iowa – No. 25 Penn State women’s volleyball closed the regular season with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20) win over Iowa in Big Ten action Saturday night at Xtream Arena. The Nittany Lions head to the NCAA Tournament with a record of 18-12 overall and 12-8 in the conference, while the Hawkeyes drop to 15-17, 6-14.

Kennedy Martin hit .426 with 26 kills, seven blocks, seven digs, and four aces. The final ace secured match point for the Nittany Lions. Her kill total helped her finish the regular season ranked first in the Big Ten in kills/set.

Penn State hit .362 behind 51 assists from Addie Lyon. Emmi Sellman hit .343 with 13 kills, Maggie Mendelson had eight kills on .389 hitting and led the team with eight blocks, and Caroline Jurevicius did her part with seven kills.

Penn State finished with a huge advantage in blocks with 15 compared to Iowa’s three. Gillian Grimes took care of business in the back row with a match-high 19 digs, while Ava Falduto joined her in double-digits with 10.

Chard’e Vanzandt paced Iowa with 22 kills and 12 digs. Claire Ammeraal tallied 43 assists and 15 digs to give the Hawkeyes two players with double-doubles.
