TEAM

  • Penn State won its first ever meeting against Nevada and improved to 7-0 all-time against current members of the Mountain West.
  • The Nittany Lions have won 21 of its last 24 season-opening contests and nine of its last 10. Penn State is 115-22-2 all-time in season openers and 122-13-1 all-time in home openers.

Team

  • Penn State RB Kaytron Allen (12 yards) and RB Nicholas Singleton (1 yard, 1 yard) both scored a rushing touchdown in a game for the eighth time. Penn State is 8-0 in those games.

  • Allar earned his 24th career win as PSU starting quarterback. He is one win behind John Shaffer (25; 1984-86) for seventh all-time at Penn State.
  • Allar now has 6,519 career passing yards, ranking fifth all-time at Penn State. On the day, he jumped Matt McGloin (6,390; 2009-12).
  • Allar earned his 17th career 200-yard passing game. He ranks fifth all-time at Penn State, breaking a tie with Kerry Collins (16; 1991-94) and Zack Mills (16; 2001-04).
  • Allar rushed for 20 yards on Saturday, bringing his career total to 580. He sits ninth all-time among Penn State quarterbacks in career rushing yards. He moved past Beau Pribula (571; 2023-24).
  • Allar now has 65 career touchdowns responsible for, tying Daryll Clark (65; 2006-09) for third all-time at PSU.

 

Ethan Grunkemeyer

  • QB Ethan Grunkemeyer scored on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter to cap a 15-play, 94-yard drive. It was his first career rushing touchdown.
  • Grunkemeyer set career marks for completions, attempts and yards with 7 completions on nine attempts for 86 yards.

 

Kaytron Allen

  • RB Kaytron Allen scored on a 12-yard run in the second quarter. It was his 25th career rushing touchdown.
  • On the day, he moved into a tie for 13th all-time at Penn State in career rushing touchdowns. He is even with D.J. Dozier (25; 1983-86) and Tony Hunt (25; 2003-06). He broke a tie with Franco Harris (24; 1969-71) and Curt Warner (24; 1979-82).

 

Nicholas Singleton

  • RB Nicholas Singleton ran for a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter and added a 1-yard rushing score in the third quarter, marking his 33rd and 34th career rushing scores.
  • It was his ninth career game with multiple rushing touchdowns.
  • Singleton’s 34 career rushing touchdowns are tied for fourth at Penn State with Ki-Jana Carter (34; 1992-94).
  • With the two rushing touchdowns, Singleton now has 43 career total touchdowns (34 rushing, 8 receiving, 1 kick return), breaking a tie with Lydell Mitchell (41; 1969-71) and moving into second all-time at PSU in total touchdowns. Singelton trails Saquon Barkley (53; 2015-17) by 10 for first all time.
  • Singleton’s two touchdowns today give him 260 points for his career, moving him past Travis Forney (258 points, 1996-99) into eighth place at Penn State.

 

Kyron Hudson

  • WR Kyron Hudson hauled in a 31-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. It was his ninth career touchdown reception and first as a Nittany Lion.
  • He finished the game with career-high-tying six catches. He had six vs.UCLA in 2024 (while at USC).
  • Hudson’s 89 receiving yards are also a career high. His previous career best was 83 vs. LSU while at USC.
  • Hudson owns 13 career receptions of 20+ yards.

 

Trebor Peña

  • WR Trebor Peña hauled in a team-high seven receptions for 74 yards.

 

Devonte Ross

  • With a grab in the second quarter, WR Devonte Ross has a catch in 20-straight games, dating back to October 28, 2023 at Texas State (while at Troy).

  • Penn State forced a takeaway on Nevada’s opening drive. DE Dani Dennis-Sutton forced a fumble, which was recovered by CB J. Harris.
  • Penn State had a takeaway on its first defensive possession of the season for the first time since 1994 vs. Minnesota (Terry Killens recovered).
  • The Nittany Lions forced a takeaway on Nevada’s second possession as well. DT Zane Durant intercepted a pass and returned it to the Nevada 6.
  • Penn State forced a takeaway in the third quarter. Dennis-Sutton forced a fumble, recovered by S Zakee Wheatley at the Nevada 16.
  • Since 2022, Penn State has recorded three or more takeaways in 15 games.

  • Dennis-Sutton tallied 2.5 tackles for loss, his seventh career game with 2+ tackles for loss. He has 25 career tackles for loss and 16 career sacks.

 

Zane Durant

  • DT Zane Durant recorded his first career interception in the first quarter, returning it to the Nevada 6.
  • Durant notched a half-tackle for loss, raising his career total to 17 tackles for loss.

 

Ty Blanding

  • DT Ty Blanding registered a solo tackle for loss in the second quarter. It was his second career tackle for loss.

 

Dominic DeLuca

  • LB Dominic DeLuca secured a solo sack in the second quarter. He owns 11.5 career tackles for loss and 3.5 career sacks.

 

Tony Rojas

  • LB Tony Rojas notched a solo tackle for loss in the first quarter.
  • He added a solo tackle for loss in the second quarter. He owns 11.5 career tackles for loss and earned his first career game with 2+ tackles for loss.

  • S Dejuan Lane recorded a solo sack in the third quarter. It was his first career tackle for loss and first career sack.
