Oneacre Collects Back-to-Back B1G Freshman of the Week Honors

Rookie infielder becomes first Nittany Lion to earn consecutive B1G weekly honors in school history

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State softball freshman infielder Allison Oneacre collected her second consecutive Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week accolade on Monday afternoon, with the rookie Nittany Lion securing the first instance of consecutive weekly honors in PSU program history following the league office’s release.

Last week, Oneacre continued her torrid stretch of individual performances, spearheading the Nittany Lion offense as PSU turned in its first 5-0 weekend tournament showing since going unbeaten at the Paradise Classic in Boca Raton, Florida, back in 2024. Oneacre hit .438 in PSU's five games, scoring three runs while batting in 11 more. The Alpharetta, Georgia, native turned in a week-long OPS of 1.358 with a home run and three doubles to her credit, adding five walks and zero strikeouts in the batter's box. Oneacre helped lead the way as PSU registered a 6-5 upset of No. 25 UCF on the road on Friday night, culminating in Penn State assuming a place in the rankings on Monday with a No. 24 showing in the Softball America poll. Oneacre was unblemished on defense across appearances at both second and third base, logging six putouts and six assists with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The rookie infielder has established herself as a breakout star in college softball throughout the early going in 2026, with Oneacre ranking second in the Big Ten Conference and sixth nationally in both total RBI (27) and RBI per game (1.80), while ranking fourth in the Big Ten and 14th across Division I softball with seven home runs. Oneacre’s talents in the batter’s box extend far beyond her power hitting, with the first-year sensation averaging a walk per game to rank third in the B1G and 13th in DI, while amassing the ninth-best on-base percentage in the Big Ten and best mark on the PSU roster with a .541 mark.

Oneacre became just the second Nittany Lion in program history to earn multiple Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week awards, joining teammate and current junior right-handed pitcher Bridget Nemeth with that distinction. Oneacre also secured the first instance of consecutive Big Ten weekly honors in Penn State history, with no Nittany Lion managing the same award in consecutive weeks since PSU joined the league in 1992. Oneacre’s B1G Freshman of the Week honor marks the ninth such honor in Penn State history.

With Oneacre leading the way offensively, Penn State returns to action this Friday through Sunday, February 27 through March 1, as the Blue & White travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, to take part in the Tennessee Invitational. PSU, which was ranked No. 24 nationally according to Softball America on Monday morning, will challenge N.C. Central Eagles and No. 1 Tennessee Lady Volunteers in a pair of matchups with a single game scheduled against Appalachian State over the three-day event from Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Both of Penn State’s matchups against top-ranked Tennessee will stream live via SEC Network+ and the ESPN app on connected devices.
