UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 20 Penn State Nittany Lions are set to host No. 9 Michigan, No. 29 Nebraska and No. 34 Washington on Saturday, February 28th at 6 p.m. at Rec Hall. The meet in University Park is one of three Big Four Meets occurring this weekend with UCLA and Michigan State also hosting Big Ten competition.
LAST TIME OUT
Against the Hawkeyes, the Nittany Lions recorded the team’s 12th consecutive meet with a score of 196.000 or higher. Penn State notched a 49.000 or above on all events and secured the second-best floor score of the season and tied for the second-best bars score during the team’s 2026 campaign.
Dani Latronica led the way for Penn State with the team’s only score above 9.900 of the night, tallying a 9.925 on beam. Kalea McElligott notched a pair of 9.875s on beam and floor with Alyssa Kramer and Ava Cash also securing 9.875s on floor and bars, respectively.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Penn State dropped in the rankings entering the weekend, ranked as the 20th-ranked team in the country. The Blue & White have the 11th-ranked rotation nationally on bars and 17th on beam, tied with Iowa for the second best NQS for bars in the Big Ten and sixth on beam by those same metrics. The Nittany Lions are 23rd nationally on vault and 26th on the floor exercise.
Latronica leads Penn State’s bars routine with the 11th best score. The Lake Worth native also found herself in the beam national rankings at 32nd in the NCAA and fourth and eighth in the Big Ten on bars and beam, respectively. Cash joins Latronica in the uneven bars rankings at 28th nationally and seventh in the Big Ten while Elizabeth Leary is 50th nationally and 11th in the Big Ten on the same event. Kramer and McElligott represent the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten rankings on floor with the 15th best scores in the conference.
Penn State currently has a team NQS of 196.342 while checking in with a vault NQS of 48.996, the team’s bars NQS being 49.217, the beam rotation at 49.100 and floor exercise at 49.117.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Michigan heads to University Park as the No. 9 team in the country with the fifth-best beam unit nationally and top-15 in all four events. Last time out against the Scarlet Knights, the Wolverines swept, winning all four event titles and defeating Rutgers, 197.100-195.675.
Nebraska enters Saturday’s quad as the No. 29 team in the country with a top-25 unit on bars. Last time out, the Huskers fell to No. 25 Maryland, 195.900-196.050.
Washington joins the meet as the No. 34 team nationally with the beam and floor squad in the top-30 in Division I. The Huskies are coming off a loss to No. 13 Minnesota, 196.300-196.950.
