OPENING NOTES
• Penn State opens its west coast trip with a match at the defending national champion Long Beach State on Saturday.
• It is the first of three matches against top-10 opponents during the road trip to California. In addition to Saturday's match against the second-ranked Beach, the Nittany Lions also play at No. 7 Pepperdine and at No. 5 USC.
• Penn State enters the trip with a seven-match winning streak, posting wins over Saint Francis (3-0), Saint Francis (3-0), Princeton (3-2), Princeton (3-0), Harvard (3-0), Harvard (3-1), and Merrimack (3-0).
