BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Penn State women’s tennis dropped a 4-3 decision on the road against Indiana on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fell to 12-9 (3-7 Big Ten) while the Hoosiers improved to 14-8 (4-6 Big Ten).
Olivia Dorner and Maelie Monfils picked up their fifth ranked win of the 2025-26 season, fourth of the spring, over No. 84 Alessandra Teodosescu and Hi’iliani Williams. Dorner and Monfils secured both of Penn State’s singles victories in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nittany Lions clinched the doubles point with wins on the top two courts. The pairing of Patricia Grigoras and Maiko Uchijima defeated Elisabeth Dunac and Nicole Sifuentes, 6-2, on court two to open the day. Dorner and Monfils downed No. 84 Alessandra Teodosescu and Williams, 6-4, on court one to clinch the point.
On court three, Brianna Baldi and Maria Daciana Ciubotaru were deadlocked at 5-5 against Chase Boyer and Nicole Teodosescu before the match went unfinished.
Dorner opened the scoring in singles with a dominant performance. The senior took down Nicole Teodosescu, 6-1, 6-1, on court four to make it 2-0 PSU. Dorner is now 10-3 in singles this spring with a 4-2 mark in the Big Ten.
Maelie Monfils extended the Blue & White advantage to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alessandra Teodosescu at the top spot. It is the second straight Big Ten win on court one for the junior.
Indiana would take the next four singles matches. Baldi fell to Sifuentes, 7-6, 6-2 on court two. Grigoras dropped a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 result against Ameia Sorey at the two spot. Ciubotaru came up short against Williams, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, on court five. The match concluded as Uchijima fell, 7-5, 0-6, 6-1, against Dunac at the tree spot.
