Offensive lineman becomes PSU’s 45th first round pick and fourth guard to go in the first round

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Penn State offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane was selected 14th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

 

Ioane became Penn State’s 45th first round pick in program history and its fourth guard selected in the first round, following Mike Munchak (8th overall, Houston Oilers, 1982), Sean Farrell (17th overall, Tampa Bay, 1982) and Jeff Hartings (23rd overall, Detroit, 1996). Ioane is the eighth PSU offensive lineman to be selected in the first round and its first since Olumuyiwa Fashanu (11th overall, New York Jets, 2024).

 

He is Penn State’s ninth offensive lineman selected since 2016.

 

He is the eighth Nittany Lion selected by the Ravens and joins Odafe Oweh (31st overall, 2021) among first round selections by the Ravens.

 

With Ioane’s first round selection, Penn State is one of three schools that has had a player selected among the first three rounds of the NFL Draft in 21-straight years, joining LSU and USC.

 

A total of 396 Nittany Lions have been selected all-time in the NFL Draft, which ranks seventh among Division I institutions. Since 2016, Penn State has had 60 players selected, including 27 taken on the first two days of the draft.

 

Penn State is also one of three schools to produce at least five picks in each of the last eight NFL Drafts.

Ioane is the eighth Nittany Lion to be selected by the Ravens all-time and the first since DE Adisa Isaac (3rd round, 2024).

 

He joins Adisa Isaac and Amani Oruwariye on the Ravens roster.

  • In 2025, earned first-team All-American honors by CBS Sports and On3 and second team All-American accolade according to The Athletic, FWAA, Sports Illustrated and Walter Camp Football Foundation.
  • Earned first-team All-Big Ten honors by the media and second team by the coaches in 2025 in addition to second-team nods by both the coaches and media in 2024.
  • Secured All-Big Ten honorable mention by the media in 2023 and repeated on the Academic All-Big Ten team on three occasions.
  • Was a finalist for the Polynesian Player of the Year Award in 2025 after appearing on the Watch List for consecutive seasons.
  • Appeared on the Lombardi Award Watch List midseason in 2025.
  • Played in 40 games and started in 32 throughout collegiate career.
  • According to PFF, allowed zero sacks and two pressures in 310 pass blocking snaps in 2025.
  • Owns an 89.8 pass blocking grade from PFF, the best in the Power 4.
  • Aided in 23 400-plus yard offensive outings for Penn State throughout career. Guided offense in 20 200-plus yard rushing performances and 28 200-plus yard passing outings.
  • Helped Kaytron Allen to rank seventh in the country in rushing yards per game (108.6), 12th in total rushing yards (1,303), 13th in rushing touchdowns (15) and 16th in yards per carry (6.2) in 2025.
  • Paved the way for Allen to post a rushing touchdown in 11 games.
  • Helped Nicholas Singleton to score 13 times on the ground.
