LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2026 All-Region Teams on Thursday afternoon, with the Penn State softball program securing four placements on All-Northeast Region squads in the organization’s release.
Junior designated player Brooke Klosowicz stood out as Penn State’s lone First Team All-Northeast Region selection. A pair of Nittany Lion rookies garnered Second Team All-Northeast Region distinction, with freshman third baseman Allison Oneacre joining left fielder Breanna Hanik on that squad. Sophomore center fielder Natalie Lieto rounded out the quartet of postseason honorees from the NFCA on the Nittany Lion roster, with PSU’s outfield sensation appearing on the All-Northeast Region Third Team. Penn State’s four All-Region selections match the team’s total from 2025, simultaneously mirroring the program record set by PSU’s Atlantic 10 Conference Championship squad back in 1985.
Klosowicz, a native of Johnsburg, Illinois, picked up her second consecutive appearance on the NFCA All-Northeast Region Second Team following yet another standout season of contributions as Penn State’s everyday designated player. The third-year star finished the 2026 campaign batting .347 across her 54 starts, leading the Nittany Lion roster in both hits and at-bats with 60 and 173, respectively. Klosowicz tallied 46 runs over the year, mustering double-digits in the home run and double statistics for the second year in a row. She amassed 15 home runs to rank second on the team behind Oneacre, in addition to legging out 11 doubles following her record-setting year in that category a season ago. Klosowicz becomes Penn State’s first NFCA All-Region First Team selection since Bridget Nemeth took home First Team All-Great Lakes honors back in 2024. The third-year Penn Stater also picked up the team’s 30th First Team All-Region honor in program history while securing the first NFCA All-Northeast Region First Team honor since Kim Corbin and Joyce Tinner reaped those awards in 1991.
A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Oneacre is responsible for the greatest offensive season by a Nittany Lion freshman in program history. The rookie sensation finished tied for the team lead in batting average this season with a .367 mark, coupling that with the PSU high in slugging and on-base percentage at .797 and .492, respectively. Oneacre finished her first season in Happy Valley as the program’s single-season record holder in RBI with 61, as well as PSU’s freshman record holder in home runs with 18. She finished two home runs shy of matching the program’s single-season record in the statistic, falling just short of the legendary Cassidy Bell’s mark of 20 from her First Team All-America campaign in 2013. Oneacre has repeatedly stood out as one of the most highly-regarded third basemen in the United States, peaking at the No. 1 spot nationally according to Softball America earlier this season. She was additionally regarded as a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection as well as a unanimous pick to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. The first-year Penn Stater has additionally been selected as a Top 10 Finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year award, just the second athlete in Penn State history to garner that distinction. Oneacre booked the 54th All-Region honor in Penn State history overall and became the 19th Nittany Lion to secure Second Team All-Region distinction in program history.
Hailing from Oak Lawn, Illinois, Hanik closed the book on a stellar inaugural run in the Blue & White with a riotous finish to the 2026 campaign, ending the year on an eight-game hitting streak and 11-game reached-base streak. Hanik finished tied for the team lead with Oneacre in hitting with a .367 average, smacking 54 hits with 42 runs scored, 12 home runs, 10 doubles and 41 RBI. Hanik closed the year as one of just three Nittany Lions to surpass 100 total bases on the season, booking 102 across her 50 games started. The rookie standout finished as one of the premier threats on the basepath in the Big Ten this year, racking up 17 stolen bases on 19 attempts to finish fourth in the league in that statistic. Hanik was a sensation in the outfield this year, fielding to the tune of a .990 fielding percentage with 94 putouts and one outfield assist. Hanik booked the 55th All-Region accolade in Nittany Lion softball history and landed the 20th Second Team All-Region distinction in program history.
A native of Monroe, Connecticut, Lieto turned in yet another impressive season in the outfield and at the plate in her second campaign with the Blue & White. The second-year Penn Stater finished fourth on the team among routine starters in batting average with a .316 clip, mustering a season-long OPS of 1.068 in the process. The Nittany Lion finished second on the roster in both runs scored and doubles with 48 and 13 respectively, also turning in a 12-homer campaign to place her tied for third on the Nittany Lion squad. Lieto has mustered consecutive 30-RBI seasons in her first two years in University Park, finishing the year with 33 ribbies to her credit. She was also effective on the basepath over the course of the 2026 season, swiping nine bases in 11 attempts. Lieto was a force to be reckoned with defensively, turning in a .987 fielding percentage with 70 putouts and four outfield assists. She rounded out Penn State’s All-Region honorees to become the program’s 56th All-Region selection overall and sixth to receive Third Team recognition since 1995.
Penn State concluded its 2026 season on Thursday, May 7, with a quarterfinal exit in the 2026 Big Ten Softball Tournament presented by Allstate. The Blue & White completed the campaign with a 33-21 overall record and mustered 11 wins in Big Ten Conference regular season competition this year, extending the program’s longest streak of double-digit winning conference seasons in program history. Penn State has won at least 30 games in four of the last five seasons and is currently in the midst of one of the most dominant runs of on-field success since the program’s inaugural campaign in 1965.
