26 female, 27 male athletes continuing push for spot in NCAA championship field

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field resumes its journey to the NCAA championships when it competes in the Big Ten Outdoor Championships this weekend.

The three-day meet will be hosted at the Nebraska Outdoor Track in Lincoln, with the meet beginning Friday, May 15 and concluding on Sunday, May 17. All three days of competition will air on B1G+, with the final day’s events also airing on the Big Ten Network (BTN), starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.  

More than fifty Nittany Lions will compete in the event, including several who competed in last year’s meet. Ajani Dwyer posted the top preliminary time in the men’s 100m at 10.16 before finishing fifth overall. Jake Palermo also returns after placing fourth in the men’s 400m in 2025.

Hannah Riolo and Audrey Friedman are among the women’s athletes competing for the second straight year. Both earned Top-10 finishes at last year’s meet, with Riolo placing eighth in the high jump and Friedman earning 10th in the javelin.   

NITTANY LIONS LAST TIME OUT

The blue and white wrapped up their outdoor regular season at the Larry Ellis Invitational May 1-2 in Princeton, New Jersey and set several program Top-10s.

Allon Clay and Ryan Watson claimed the fastest and sixth-fastest marks 1500-meter run times in program history, respectively. Clay’s 3:37.84 won him the event, while Watson’s 3:39.38 placed him third.

Boh Ritchie recorded the fifth-fastest time in program history when she ran a 2:03.51 in the women’s 800-meter run. Her time earned her third at the meet, with Tayissa Buchanan placing fifth.

Two female Nittany Lion throwers earned Top-10 program marks. Alex Pancoast delivered a 197-1.00 (60.09m), topping sixty meters and moving up to sixth in the hammer throw. Skye-Petrie Cameron threw a 54-8.75 (16.68m) in the shot put, giving her the fifth-furthest distance in program history.

10 additional Penn State athletes placed in the top five, including Riolo (second place in the women’s high jump), Alexandria North (second in the women’s 200-meter dash) and Joe White (tied for second in the men’s long jump).
