UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball freshman third baseman Allison Oneacre collected yet another individual national accolade on Thursday, garnering distinction as a D1Softball Freshman All-American in a release from that organization. Oneacre becomes just the second unanimous Freshman All-American in Penn State program history, joining 2024 honoree and junior teammate Bridget Nemeth.
Oneacre is responsible for the greatest offensive season by a Nittany Lion freshman in program history, collecting a wide array of honors over the course of her first year in the Blue & White. The Alpharetta, Georgia, native became the first student-athlete in Penn State program history to be named both a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten Conference selection and unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman team designee in the same season. Oneacre garnered multiple individual player rankings at both the third base and shortstop positions over the season, peaking at the No. 1 spot in the nation at third base at the end of February. Oneacre was named unanimous National Freshman of the Week on February 17, became the first Penn Stater to win back-to-back B1G Freshman of the Week honors in program history, picked up Second Team NFCA All-Northeast Region accolades this season and hauled in appearances on both Top 25 and Top 10 watch lists for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year Award.
The rookie sensation finished tied for the team lead in batting average in 2026 with a .367 mark, coupling that with the PSU-high in slugging and on-base percentage at .797 and .492, respectively. Oneacre finished her first season in Happy Valley as the program’s single-season record holder in RBI with 61, as well as PSU’s freshman record holder in home runs with 18. She finished two home runs shy of matching the program’s single-season record, falling just short of Cassidy Bell’s mark of 20 from her First Team All-America campaign in 2013.
Oneacre becomes the second student-athlete in Penn State program history to secure unanimous Freshman All-America accolades from both Softball America and D1Softball, joining current junior and standout 2024 performer Bridget Nemeth with those honors. Oneacre also joins Nemeth as one of just two student-athletes in school history to garner National Freshman of the Year Watch List status at any point.
Following Oneacre’s rookie season in Happy Valley, Penn State wrapped up a 33-21 overall record and mustered 11 wins in Big Ten Conference regular season competition this year, extending the program’s longest streak of double-digit winning conference seasons in program history. Penn State has won at least 30 games in four of the last five seasons and is currently in the midst of one of the most dominant runs of on-field success since the program’s inaugural campaign in 1965.
