MINNETONKA, Minn. – Incoming first-years Kylie Amelkovich, Morgan Stickney and Lorelai Nelson of the Penn State women’s hockey team have been invited to participate in USA Hockey's Girls National Under-19 Training Camp, USA Hockey announced.
Amelkovich, Stickney and Nelson are among 38 players from the 2007 and 2008 birth years selected to attend the camp, which will take place July 13-16 at the Goggin Ice Center in Oxford, Ohio. Invitees were selected to attend through USA Hockey's national scouting process based on in-season competition. The camp serves as both an evaluation and development opportunity for participants.
Nelson has been a part of USA Hockey's player development pipeline, advancing through Minnesota's player evaluation process to earn invitations to both the Girls 15 and Girls 16/17 National Player Development Camps. She also represented Team USA at the 2024 Under-18 Series against Canada.
Amelkovich and Stickney previously competed for the United States on the international stage at the 2026 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, helping Team USA capture a gold medal. Amelkovich appeared in all six games, recording two goals and 12 assists for 14 points, while Stickney posted two shutouts during the tournament. Together, the duo helped Team USA become the first team in tournament history to earn a "perfect gold," as the Americans never trailed or were tied at any point during the tournament, including in the 2-0 victory over Canada in the gold-medal game.
Amelkovich and Stickney also represented the United States at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, earning a silver medal. In six games, Amelkovich recorded three goals and two assists for five points, while Stickney finished with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage. Stickney set multiple tournament records, becoming the first goaltender to record an assist, the first to go through all three preliminary-round games without allowing a goal and established the U18 Women's World Championship shutout streak time of 183:01.
