Paul Cianciolo[apos]s very accomplished Penn State resume added two more significant entries during the past year. In August 2007, the talented quarterback earned his degree in finance, graduating with an outstanding 3.94 grade-point average. He began working on a Master[apos]s in Business Administration (MBA) and owned a superb 3.81 GPA through last spring in his graduate work. This past spring, Cianciolo became a two-sport collegiate student-athlete, a feat which is more rare with each year. He participated in the Nittany Lions[apos] 15 spring practices and was a pitcher on Coach Robbie Wine[apos]s baseball team. Once spring drills ended, Cianciolo was able to attend all baseball games. A long reliever, he was second on the team in relief appearances with 12, making one save in 18.2 innings of work. Among his best outings was throwing three scoreless innings against Michigan State on May 2, helping the Lions to the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The multi-talented Cianciolo has great size, skills and work ethic and will battle Daryll Clark and Pat Devlin for playing time at quarterback. Cianciolo is one of the squad[apos]s premier students, compiled 4.0 GPAs during the 2006 and [apos]07 spring semesters. The Dean[apos]s List student is a strong candidate to earn Academic All-Big Ten accolades for the second time in his career. His brother, Joe, was a senior linebacker for the Nittany Lions in 2006.
2007 Senior Season
Cianciolo did not see any playing time, but that did not deter his work attitude and work ethic during the course of the season. He received his degree in finance in August and began working on an MBA, compiling a 3.86 grade-point average during the 2007 fall semester.
2006 Junior Season
During a span of two series in the third quarter against Michigan, quarterbacks Anthony Morelli and Daryll Clark left the game with mild concussions. Paul Cianciolo made his season debut after Clark left and demonstrated good leadership and command of the offense the remainder of the game against a strong defense. Cianciolo hit Tony Hunt on a 43-yard screen pass in the fourth quarter to draw the Lions within 17-10 in the most meaningful playing time in his collegiate career. He finished three-of-seven for 51 yards against the Wolverines, completed his only pass against Temple and also played against Northwestern. Cianciolo earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades, having posted a 4.0 grade-point average for the spring semester.
2005 Sophomore Season
Cianciolo made his collegiate debut against Cincinnati, and also saw action against Central Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois. He did not attempt any
passes. He was on the field for 17 snaps, led by nine against the Illini.
2004 Freshman Season
Redshirt season. Cianciolo completed seven-of-17 passes for 81 yards in the 2005 Blue-White game.
