AS A JUNIOR IN 2012: Appeared in 15 games, starting each with nine Big Ten appearances ... Fired a total of 100.2 innings during the 2012 season, the sixth-highest single-season total in program history ... Posted a 3.84 ERA ... Made season debut against Cincinnati on Feb. 19, throwing six innings with five strikeouts and three earned runs ... AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2011: Pieced together a breakout sophomore campaign, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors while receiving the Charles Medlar Award as Penn State's top pitcher ... Surrendered just 12 walks during the season and ranked 17th in the nation with a 1.06 walks-per-nine-innings rate ... Finished the year with a 2.08 ERA in conference action, which was the lowest in the league ... Anchored the starting rotation throughout the year, starting 15 games while leading all conference pitchers with a 2.57 ERA ... Fired 101.2 innings, which led the squad and ranked second in the Big Ten ... Tossed at least six innings in 12 starts, including a league-high four complete games ... AS A FRESHMAN IN 2010: Appeared in 21 games with eight starts while throwing 68 innings (second on the squad) ... 43 strikeouts were third-best ... Retired all eight batters he faced in the season-opener against Cincinnati on Feb. 26 to earn the win ... Pitched three innings against Notre Dame on Feb. 28, allowing one run while striking out six ... Impressed in first career outings, tossing 5.2 innings of one-run ball in the Big Ten/Big East Challenge ... Second strong start in as many outings, tossing six innings while only allowing two runs with three strikeouts at Texas State (March 14) ... Picked up second win of the season, coming into a jam against Columbia on March 20 while tossing 1.2 sparkling innings ... Earned first-career save as part of win over No. 24 Pitt on April 13, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts ... HIGH SCHOOL: Played high school baseball for the Colleyville Heritage Panthers in Texas ... Impressed as a senior, not only being named First Team All-Area in a number of publications (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Morning News and DFV VYPE Magazine), but also winning District 5-5a MVP ... That performance helped lead squad to the District Championship ... Also named an All-District pitcher in 2008 and All-District third baseman in 2007 ... Made the playoffs all four seasons while earning the Regional Quarterfinal Championship in 2006 ...
