Awards: Academic All-Big Ten. Season: Led the team with 80 1/3 innings pitched ... Second on the team with a career-high 75 strikeouts ... Had three eight-inning starts, including one complete game ... Struck out 19 batters to just one walk over 13 1/3 innings in two starts in March (at Delaware, Columbia), allowing one earned run. At No. 1 TCU (2/19): Pitched three innings in his first start of the season, allowing three earned runs while striking out four. Vs. Xavier (2/25): Struck out seven in five innings. At Pacific (3/5): Pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out one to earn win. At Delaware (3/18): Pitched six innings without giving up an earned run and struck out a career-high 10 batters while only walking one. Columbia (3/25): Went 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one earned run on eight hits and struck out nine batters with no walks. Ohio State (4/9, G1): Pitched a season-high eight innings, yielding one run on 10 hits and two walks with eight strikeouts, leaving the game with the lead. Northwestern (4/22): Pitched seven innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out four batters. At Indiana (5/13): Tied a season-best eight innings pitched as he scattered 11 hits while striking out six in first career complete game. No. 22 Nebraska (5/19): Went eight innings in a second consecutive start, holding the Huskers to two runs on seven hits while striking out eight. Summer: Made two appearances, including one start, for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League.

Awards: Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America ... Big Ten All-Freshman Team (starting pitcher). Season: Led the team in starts (14), wins (6) and innings pitched (82.0) ... Posted a 3.84 ERA and a 6-3 record ... Most wins by a Penn State pitcher since 2011. Vs. Army (2/20): Pitched seven scoreless innings in debut to lead a combined shutout and earn first career win ... Struck out six and allowed only four hits and no walks. At UNCW (3/7): Gave up no earned runs in 6 2/3 innings and allowed five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in his second win of the season. Niagara (3/19): Threw six innings with no earned runs and no walks and struck out five to earn the win. At Illinois (3/26): Pitched a season high 8 1/3 innings in Big Ten debut and struck out six while only surrendering two earned runs. At Northwestern (4/17): Struck out five with no walks in six innings of work in an 11-3 victory ... Recovered from a six-hit, three-run first inning to keep Northwestern scoreless for the rest of his outing. At Rutgers (4/24): Became winningest Penn State pitcher since 2011 with sixth victory of the season. Maryland (4/30 G2): Limited Terps to two earned runs over six innings.
