Returning to the women’s epee squad, Sophia Abashidze wrapped up her junior campaign with a 21-48 record. During the 2026 UPenn Invitational, Abashidze finished with a 6-4 record, going 2-1 against Farleigh Dickinson, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Sacred Heart. The epee fencer also secured notable wins against Temple and UPenn. In postseason competition, Abashidze earned a 22nd-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championships.

Born and raised in State College, Pa., Sophia Abashidze is entering her senior season as a fencer on the women’s epee team. Abashidze attended State College Area High School. She chose Penn State because she grew up surrounded by the team environment and always wanted to be a Nittany Lion. Parents are Ia Abashidze and Gia Abashidze… sister is Anna Abashidze, brother is 2014 Penn State Fencing alum Guram Abashidze.
